The target remained the same as in 2022/23 (96.6%) due to the ongoing recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic on collection and enforcement, the impact of the cost of living crisis as well as demands placed on the Service whilst undergoing a recruitment drive following a Service Review during the 2022/23 financial year.

The PI is monitored monthly. By way of comparison performance at the end of Q4 is 1.5% higher than in 2022/23. In 2022/23 there was in increase in assessments by the Valuation Office Agency just before the end of the financial year which increased the amounts to be collected and these were carried over to the 2023/24 financial year.

The arrears have reduced by £4.246m in total since 1.4.23. Overall arrears are £4.468m more than at the same point in time last year but a further year's council tax has accrued coupled with the cost of living crisis in 2023-24 as well as the ongoing recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, during the 2023/24 financial year the Service has undergone new recruitment following a Service review.

In addition, the tenancy fraud initiative has resulted in 8 properties being recovered.
